Giants re-up Matt Chapman for six years

Giants re-up Matt Chapman for six years

While the Giants have waived the white flag on this season, they've made sure that third base will be kept warm for the next six seasons. Late Wednesday night, it was announced that the Giants had signed Matt Chapman to a six-year deal for $151 million dollars.

Per the Giants, Chapman will earn $25 million per year for the life of the contract and he'll receive a signing bonus of $1 million in 2025. By the last year of the deal, he'll turn 37.

Based on the deal he signed before this season, he had two player options for 2025 and 2026 and there was a mutual option for 2027. This erases that deal and gives the Giants two players in Chapman and centerfielder Jung Hoo Lee signed to long term deals.
