Ricky Pearsall to miss at least four games after being shot on Saturday

The 49ers placed rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall on the reserve/non-football injury list today, just two days after he was shot in San Francisco after a robbery attempt. That means the earliest Pearsall can play for the team is the fifth game of the season depending on his recovery. His timeline is unknown at this time.

The 49ers signed offensive tackle Brandon Parker to fill his spot on the 53-man roster.

The San Francisco Chronicle posted a report on how the SFPD sergeant at the scene took control of the situation and helped Pearsall stay calm.

Pearsall was taken to the hospital on Saturday and was released on Sunday.

The 49ers posted this on their website:

"San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was released from the hospital this afternoon as he continues to recover from a bullet wound to his chest.

"He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital."

According to The Athletic's Matt Barrows, "If the 49ers activate Pearsall, he will count as one of their eight return designations from the injured reserve, physically unable to perform or NFI lists."
